There is a big possibility that the second edition of the Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) pageant will be mounted in Iloilo City.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas disclosed that the city government received a proposal from a marketing and production company to host the beauty pageant in September this year.
“Having the reigning Miss Universe Philippines 2020, Rabiya Mateo, a resident of Iloilo City, I am very much open to this proposal,” he said.
“I am always supportive of activities that showcase the talents of the Ilonggos and open opportunities to create livelihood and promote local businesses including our tourism,” the mayor added.
Mateo represented the city in the MUP stage last year. She bested 39 other candidates and took home the crown.
The Ilongga beauty is the country’s official representative to upcoming Miss Universe pageant, the world’s most prestigious beauty competition.IMT
