Iloilo is closing its borders with the island of Negros again to avoid the further spread of the novel coronavirus.

People from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, and Negros Oriental will be banned from entering the province and city of Iloilo starting on Wednesday, July 22.

But the “movement of essential goods and cargo will remain unhampered.”

The entire Western Visayas is currently under MGCQ (modified general community quarantine), the lowest form of community quarantine enforced by the government.

The region has 288 active cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of July 21.

Negros Occidental has the highest cases with 25, followed by Iloilo province, 22; Bacolod City, 13; Iloilo City, 10; and Antique, 1.

The rest of the cases involved returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and locally stranded individuals (LSIs).IMT
