Graduates of two tertiary schools in Iloilo dominated the October 2019 Fisheries Technologist Licensure Examination.
The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) in Miagao produced 11 topnotchers while the Iloilo State College of Fisheries (ISCOF) in Barotac Nuevo had two topnotchers.
Gardel Xyza Sana Libunao, a UPV graduate, ranked first with a score of 89%.
Rico Ian Descutido To-ong, an ISCOF alumnus, clinched the second spot with a score of 87.75%.
Robinson Sariego Amihan Jr. of ISCOF placed third with a score of 86.25%, followed by Whelver Naldoza Surnido (86%) and Kim John Napiar Balboa (85.75%), both from UPV.
Other topnotchers from UPV were Thereze Pauline Venus Capaque, Josette Emlen Jamoles Genio, Amethyl Mardin Pernito and Isidro Calcaben Tanangonan. They shared the eighth spot with a score of 84.75%
Rhiannen Marie Casas Licera and Karl Angelo Padernilla Tenizo owned the ninth spot with a score of 84.50%.
The tenth spot was grabbed by Therese Flores Javellana and Fedelin Flor Colon Mero with a score of 84.25%.
UPV was named the top performing school with a passing rate of 96.33% or 105 out of its 109 examinees passed the board exam.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the results on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Of the 2,101 examinees, only 731 passed the exam administered by the Board of Fisheries in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga this month.IMT
