Iloilo Metropolitan Times (IMT NEWS) won the Healthcare Photo of the Year award in the first-ever Paglaum: TMC Iloilo Media Excellence Awards.

The winning photo, which shows people lining up at the Iloilo Convention Center to receive their COVID-19 vaccine, was taken by Ian Paul Cordero in May 2021.

IMT NEWS received a trophy during the awarding ceremony held at Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo on April 28.

Meanwhile, IMT NEWS‘ story titled Iloilo province records first COVID-19 survivor was a finalist for the Healthcare Newsmaker award.

Paglaum: TMC Iloilo Media Excellence Awards is the first media recognition program in Iloilo that honors the local media and bloggers in the field of healthcare journalism.

“More than an award-giving body, Paglaum: TMC Iloilo Media Excellence Awards is our way of showing gratitude to the support that it received from the local media and to the rest of the healthcare community all throughout these years and to celebrate the efforts of the media in delivering factual news and information,” TMC Iloilo Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Prince Juliene Hermaine Celo said.

The media awards is part of the celebration of The Medical City Iloilo’s 13th anniversary.

“As we celebrate our 13th anniversary, we would also like to give back to the media for helping us spread news about healthcare to the Ilonggo community most especially during the height of the lockdown in 2020,” TMC Iloilo Chief Executive Officer Dr. Felix Ray Villa said.

“[Journalists and bloggers] served as our active partners and collaborators in giving the public factual news and information and at the same time, spark hope and inspiration,” he added

Other winners were ABS-CBN News, GMA Iloilo and Panay News.IMT
