Winning 35 medals in the 2021 Smart/MVP Sports Foundation Global Online Taekwondo Championships, Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym promise to continue training jins not just for recognition, but also for self-discipline.

The Mark V Pinggol-coached team took home 10 gold, 14 silver, and 11 bronze medals in the tournament hosted by the Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA).

The gold medalists were Angela Joy Marie Bermejo, Nathan Lee Dedal, Lindsy Lorraine Degayo, Niña Antonette Malazarte, James Xander Calubo, and Sirhc Einreb Damaolao.

For Miagao pride Bermejo, she expressed his gratitude to the MVP coaches for allowing her to participate in this accomplishment and for always being patient with them.

“Despite the fact that the pandemic is still ongoing, they manage to train us. Thank you also for the support of my family and friends,” she added.

For Pinggol, who won two gold medals, she said he won the competition because of her hard work and dedication during training and she didn’t gave up no matter how tired she was.

“I dedicate this victory to my family for they are the one that always support and encourage me to keep going and never give up in any competition that I am engaged. And of course to my MVP Coaches who have been patient and worked really hard to train me, most especially to my Tatay Mark. He’s always there for me, he is the one that gives me more time in training. I am very grateful for all the people behind this success. And I give all the glory and honor to God,” she added.

Finishing with silver medals were Nieka Thalia Guevara, Amber Gale Abellar, Prince Ivan Barcemo, Alyanah Julienne Tionko, Arvin Kirk Derayunan, Alicia Sophia Gutierrez, Pearl Danielle Rosales, Jenella Ashley Tionko, Charee Marie Florence Genecela, Phil Andrew Margarico, Ianna Gabriella Rosales, and Red Dyron Lusaya.

Denzel Espadilla, Adrian Emmanuel Zarandin, Jannah Ysabel Velez, Marielle Faye Lagamo, Quinn Jimenez, Senddrick Valencia, Alyzza C’lynn Alindote, Eujean Ivanka Castete, and Margarette Gem Obsequio settled for bronze.

On the other hand, the Zarraga Taekwondo Dojang got a gold medal, courtesy of Erjun Cabanero.

Ma. Regina Abello, Precious Janna Subong, Sean Jerrell Sencida, Ma. Roselle Pueyo and Kevin Rumpel won the silver medals for the team; while Imar Pinuela, Jose Ricardo Jeon, Jaden Paul Aranjuez, Prinz Khyzyl Eufan, Ma. Christianne Dominique Sudayan, Estelle Marie Abentino, and Djezelree Clavel got the bronze medals.

“First of all, thank you Lord for giving us opportunity and blessings to compete in this kind of international competition. The preparation was so hard because of the current quarantine restriction of our province but we still made by His grace and protection to keep us safe.
