Playing like a well-oiled machine, Iloilo MVP Taekwondo jins made waves in the 2022 SMART/MVPSF PTA National Interschool Poomsae and Kyorugi Taekwondo Championships after snatching 20 medals at the Ayala Malls in Manila.

The Denmark Pinggol-mentored jins captured five gold, five silver, and three bronze medals in the poomsae event before garnering two gold, three silver, and two bronze medals in Kyorugi.

Leading the squad, Elisha Miela Paradero, Viene Marie Dulaca, Marianne Evanne Doseo, Nathan Lee Dedal, and Phoebe Margaret took home the gold medals for the Iloilo-based team.

“It was and amazing experience. This is my first ever competition without my teammates being my competitors. At first, I remained calm because I couldn’t believe I won gold. I couldn’t see the scores very clearly since I have a bad eyesight,” shared Capadosa.

The first timer jin also said that she will train hard for the next tournament and what the outcome will be for the next tournament, she will learn from it,” she added.

Julianna Martha Uy, Phil Caleb Regalado, Lindsy Lorraine Degayo, Ryza Chanel Tabucuran, and Amber Gale Abellar won the silver medal Cyd Edryc Esmaña, Alicia Sophia Gutierrez, and Princez Elaiza Doseo brought home the bronze medals.

For Elisha’s mother Milrose, she said while the competetion is on going, the feeling was so intense. “The way I see it, I am tense as a mother compared to my daughter who will compete. I feel so nervous everytime the score of each participant appears whether it will beat the score of my child or not. I can’t also help but to shed tears and cheer loudly out of happiness,of course. I am more than proud of my child seing her topped the score board,” she added.

The supportive mother, who always accompany her daughter in all tournaments, shared she’s grateful to God for giving Elisha the strength and confidence.

“My advice for her is to work hard for her goal and stay humble. Always be thankful to God and always glorify God in her life and in every tournament that she will encounter. Always listen, respect and be thankful to her coaches at MVP gym and always remember that every day is a learning process for her to be better,” she added.

Meanwhile, Michael Wynn Cerbo and Adenny Lourl Rivera got the gold in the Kyorugi events before Sophia Marie Bautista, Mc Greg Alfonso Donguila, and Reyven Ken Decolongon collected the silver medals. Katrina Mamaril and Eujean Ivanka Castete wrapped up the medal haul with their own bronze medal finishes.

Joshua Cachero, Niesha Kariz Pequierda, and Merial An Detablan were included in the Top 10.

Pinggol, on the other hand, said the tournament was one of the difficult and challenging competitions because they need to register the kids by school since it’s an Interschool event.

“We are thankful for this achievement once again. We found it hard to train the kids because they have already classes. But then, we pulled it off and took home medals and trophies. Thank you to all the jins, parents and coaches for their sacrifices and support. Without them, we won’t be able to win big in this event,” shared Pinggol.IMT Sports
