The Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (IPDRRMC) has raised its alert level to blue due to the increasing cases of dengue.
Cornelio Salinas, head of the PDRRM Office, said the code blue or heightened alert has been activated to ensure all preparations are in place.
The Provincial Health Office (PHO) recorded a total of 3,608 dengue cases from January 1 to August 3 this year.
The number, which includes six deaths, was higher by 242 percent compared to 1,056 cases logged in the same period last year.
Passi City posted the highest number of dengue cases in the province at 256, followed by Dingle (189), Lambunao (167), Oton (165), and Dumangas (163).
The deaths were from Badiangan (2), Miagao (2), Dingle (1) and Lambunao (1).
Last week, the province’s lone component city declared a state of calamity due to the high number of dengue cases.IMT
