The province of Iloilo recorded 18 new cases of dengue, latest data from the Department of Health (DOH-6).

The number, which was recorded from January 14 to 20, brought the total dengue cases in the province this year to 78.

Iloilo City logged 17 new cases, followed by Capiz with 15; Antique and Negros Occidental, 13 each; Guimaras, 8; and Bacolod City and Aklan, 6 each.

All in all, Western Visayas registered 96 new cases. These raised the total dengue infections in the region to 334, including one death from Guimaras.

The overall figure was lower by 45 percent compared to 611 cases recorded in the same period last year.

Most of the dengue patients belonged to the age group of 1 to 10 years old.
