The quarantine status of Iloilo province will be downgraded to modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), while Iloilo City will remain under GCQ after May 31, 2020.
Under Resolution No. 40 issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID), the province is considered low-risk.
Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Negros Occidental and Bacolod City are also classified as low-risk areas for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) transmission.
Iloilo City is the only area in Western Visayas that is identified moderate-risk.
All moderate-risk areas, according to the resolution, “will be placed under GCQ until June 15, 2020.”
“Provinces, HUCs (highly urbanized cities), ICCs (independent component cities) characterized as low, moderate, and high-risk areas may appeal their classification to the IATF Screening and Validation Committee with the concurrence of the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) not later than 29 May 2020, 12 noon,” the resolution stated.
As of May 27, the province has recorded 20 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 15 recoveries and four deaths, while the city has registered 18 cases, with 13 recoveries and one death.IMT
