The province and city of Iloilo recorded new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Sunday, May 17, the second day of the general community quarantine (GCQ).
The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported two additional COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas, bringing the total count in the region to 104.
The latest cases involve a 34-year-old male from Alimodian, Iloilo province and a 37-year-old male from Arevalo district in Iloilo City.
Tagged as WV 103, the infected patient from Alimodian is the province’s 20th case. He was exposed to WV 102.
WV 102 is a 38-year old male from Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
Patients 103 and 102 are crew members of a fishing vessel that docked in Iloilo City recently.
The boat came from Metro Manila, one of the high-risk areas in the country.
Dr. Patricia Grace Trabado of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) said WV 103 is asymptomatic and is currently staying at a quarantine facility in Iloilo City.
The infected patient, according to Trabado, has not set foot in Alimodian.
The new patient in the city (WV 104), on the other hand, is a close contact of WV 93, a 39-year-old female from the same district.
WV 104 the city’s 17th COVID-19 case.
The city currently has seven active cases while the province has two active cases.IMT
