Showing her emphatic performance, Ilongga netter Louraine Jallorina successfully bagged the gold medal in the 1st Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open Age Group Tournament on Saturday in Taguig City.
The native of Iloilo City made waves in the tournament after ruling the 12-and-under girls category, 6-3, 6-1 over Maristella Torrecampo of Metro Manila in the finale.
Marking her gold medal finish, Jallorina, a standout of Central Philippine University (CPU) also eliminated Donna Mae Diamante, 6-2, 6-2, in the second round, Leila Tula, 6-2, 6-3, in the quarterfinals before edging out Cadee Dagoon, 5-7, 6-4, 11-9, in the semis.
Aside from her gold feat, Jallorina also won the doubles silver medal with Althea Rose Martirez in the 14-and-under doubles girls category.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Sports Academy (ICSA) commended Jallorina for her outstanding performance, considering that she became the first Ilongga tennis player to bag a major tournament gold.
Representing Iloilo in the 18-and-under girls singles event, Martirez, fell short of a podium finish before teaming up with Peebee Aguirre in the 18-and-under girls doubles category.
John Rafael Santiago, meanwhile, settled for a silver medal finish in the 12-and-under boys singles category after losing to Lexus Cruz of Nueva Ecija in a scintillating gold medal clash.
Aleeva Feonne Suace also got the silver after losing to Jane Nicole Diaz of Manila City in 14-and-under girls final; while John Benedict Santiago also finished within the Final Four in the 18-and-under boys category.
Anthony Castigador and Elemar Alcalde Sealza also joined the tournament and finished in the Top 10.IMT Sports
