An Ilongga volleybelle wowed the crowd in the just-concluded UAAP Season 84 Women’s Volleyball after she was hailed Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Princess Anne “Cess” Robles, team captain of National University Lady Bulldogs is a native of Barangay Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo. The former spiker of Central Philippine University (CPU) Golden Lions. She averaged 9.0 points and 9.5 digs in the two-game series.
It was a double celebration for the Ilongga player after NU Lady Bulldogs claimed the title after 65 years, blasting De La Salle University Lady Spikers, 25-15, 25-15 in Game 2 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Leading the squad, Alyssa Solomon tallied 18 points, on 15 attacks and three blocks, while Season 84 Rookie of the Year-Most Valuable Player Mhicaela Belen had 16 points built on 13 spikes and three blocks. Guimarasnon, moreover, Camille Lamina bagged the Best Setter award.
The Lady Bulldogs captured their first UAAP women’s volleyball championship since 1957 and became the third squad to finish the entire season undefeated in the Final Four era.
For Robles, she said she’s happy because finally they snatched the title and all the efforts and sacrifices were paid off. “Syempre happy and proud ako kay kabilang kami nga mga Ilongga sa nagkuha kag nagbalik sang korona sa NU. Ang Finals MVP bonus lang na ya ang goal gid is magchampion kami pero happy man gyapon ah nga ako nagfinals MVP,” she added.IMT Sports
