The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) told Ilonggos to brace for more intense heat in the coming days.
PAGASA wheather observer Jeff Maquilinģ said the highest heat index recorded so far this year in Iloilo was 37 degrees Celsius.
Heat index, according to state weather bureau, is “the level of heat or discomfort that a person experiences in contrast to the actual air temperature.”
A heat index of 41°C or higher is considered to be in the “danger” level and poses health risks.
Maquilinģ advised the public to stay indoors as much as possible because prolonged exposure to the heat can be harmful.IMT
