A COVID-19 vaccination site has been opened at the Iloilo International Airport to cater to unvaccinated and partially vaccinated Ilonggos arriving from outside of Western Visayas.

The establishment of the vaccination site is part of the Iloilo Provincial Health Office’s (IPHO) effort to ramp up their vaccination drive.

IPHO aims to reach 70 percent of its target population for COVID-19 vaccination by the end of March this year.

The province, which is currently Alert Level 2, needs to, among others, fully vaccinate at least 70 percent of its population in order to shift to Alert Level 1.

Target vaccination rate prior to shifting an area to Alert Level 1 was set at 70 percent of the eligible population

Meanwhile, Dr. Maria Socorro Quiñon, IPHO head, appealed for help from barangay officials in encouraging residents to get themselves vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Bululigan naton nga mag-Alert Level 1 na ang Iloilo province. Panawagan sa mga barangay captain kag sa mga wala pa nakapabakuna, community mobilization ang kinahanglan,” she said.Sheila Mae Supiter/IMT
