Iloilo City is “ready” for a shift from modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) to the so-called “new normal”, according to Mayor Jerry Treñas.
In an interview over radio station RMN-Iloilo, Treñas assured that safety and health protocols will remain in place to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The city, according to the mayor, has enough quarantine and healthcare facilities in case the cases of COVID-19 in the city would increase again.
Treñas also stressed the importance of public’s continued cooperation to help the city’s the recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Based on data from the Department of Health (DOH-6), the city, as of Sept. 23, recorded 1,964 indigenous or local cases of COVID-19, of which 830 are active.
Thirteen barangays in the metropolis are currently on total lockdown.
On Monday, Sept. 21, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said several areas of the country may be placed under “new normal” starting next month.IMT
