A Facebook post by former Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has sparked speculations about the latter’s return to the Philippines.
“Will I? WON’T I? Time to think and reflect what is best???!!!” Mabilog said in the post, which also contained a photo of him by the beach.
“Pulupatawhay… Boracay? Palawan? or BAHAMAS!!! Stress-free, anxiety-free and Maritess-free!!! Thank you Lord for your Grace. THANK YOU!” he added.
The former city mayor and his family left the country in August 2017 after he was repeatedly accused by former president Rodrigo Duterte of being a drug protector.
Their exact whereabouts remained unknown.
Mabilog did not finish his third term which should have ended in 2019. He was replaced by then vice mayor Joe III Espinosa.
No charges were filed against Mabilog for his alleged link to drug lords.
During the Duterte administration, at least 10 mayors were killed.IMT
