Jordan, Guimaras Mayor Ruben Corpuz placed the entire municipal hall under a four-day lockdown from March 19 to 22, 2021 in order to control the spread of the corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Corpuz signed Executive Order No. 19 temporarily suspending all government transactions at Jordan Municipal Hall effective March 19 to March 22, 2021.
The EO was made after the island province has confirmed 20 COVID-19 cases, wherein a number of close contacts have been identified as employees of Jordan LGU.
A thorough contact tracing and disinfection will be implemented and all direct contacts will be swabbed and subjected to strict home quarantine.
To recall, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte issued Proclamation No. 922 declaring a State of Public Health Emergency throughout the Philippines on March 8, 2020 after the country recorded a local transmission of COVID-19.
The proclamation enjoins all government agencies and LGUs to render full assistance and cooperation and mobilize the necessary resources to undertake critical, urgent and appropriate response and measures in a timely manner to curtail and eliminate the COVID-19 threat.
Corpuz shared they decided to suspend all government transactions upon recommendation of the Municipal Health Team on the management of COVID-19 in the Jordan and due to the contact tracing and disinfection.
“We had three cases with families nga may COVID so I made the decision to spray and decontaminate the whole municipal hall. And also to stop them from reporting to the office,” he added.
The positive workers are under home quarantine and still waiting for their swab results. Corpuz also reminded his constituents to always observe health protocols to avoid the virus.
“Here in Jordan, we are requiring the public to still follow the same system. Stay away from the crowd and follow health protocols. That’s the best way to do,” shared Corpuz.IMT
