The town of Lambunao is now free of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to Vice Mayor Arvin Losaria.

In an interview over radio station Bombo Radyo-Iloilo, Losaria said there are more active COVID-19 cases in their town.

The Department of Health (DOH-6) confirmed on Thursday, May 14, the recovery of the remaining COVID-19 patients in Lambunao.

Based on the latest bulletin issued by the DOH-6, a 44-year-old female and a 32-year-old female, both residents of Lambunao, have recovered from the disease.

The town registered seven confirmed cases of the dreaded disease. All of the patients belong to one family.

Of the total number, six have recovered while one has died. The town’s first four recoveries were reported by the DOH-6 on April 25.

Meanwhile, Losaria urged Lambunaonons not to be complacent and continue to be vigilant against COVID-19.

The town of Banate, on the other hand, recorded its first case of COVID-19. Its 23-year-old male resident tested positive for the deadly disease.

Mayor Carlos Cabangal said the patient, tagged as WV 100, is a personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

“He is one of the close contacts of WV 59, [a coronavirus-positive BJMP personnel from Zarraga town],” he disclosed.

WV 100 is the province’s 19th COVID-19 case. He is asymptomatic and currently staying at a quarantine facility in Iloilo City.IMT
