Iloilo Fifth District Representative and vice gubernatorial candidate Raul “Boboy” Tupas has championed several measures that continue to benefit many Ilonggos.

Among these measures are the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act;  PNP, BFP, BJMP and BuCor Height Equality Act; First Time Job Seekers Assistance Act; and the Act Increasing the Social Pension of Senior Citizens.

The Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (Republic Act No. 10931) allows eligible college students to enroll in state universities and colleges (SUCs) for free.

To encourage more civilians to join the uniformed service sector, Tupas pushed the passage of the PNP, BFP, BJMP and BuCor Height Equality Act (Republic Act 11549).

The law reduces the minimum height requirement for applicants to the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) from 5’4” to 5’2” for males and from 5’2’ to 5’ for females.

Tupas also passed the First Time Job Seekers Assistance Act (Republic Act No. 11261), which waives fees from various government agencies for fresh graduates applying for work.

The Act Increasing the Social Pension of Senior Citizens (Republic Act 11916), crafted by the Ilonggo lawmaker, provides for a 100 percent increase in the monthly pension of indigent senior citizens from P500 to P1,000.

Last month, President Bongbong Marcos signed into law the Expanded Centenarians Act or Republic Act 11982.

Authored by Tupas, the law grants a P10,000 cash gift for those celebrating their 80th, 85th, 90th and 95th birthdays. Those who reach 100 are entitled to P100,000.
