With the eagerness to win as a team, Leganes Football Club sealed the coveted title in the just-concluded Janiuay United Football Club 5th Anniversary Football Tournament in Janiuay, Iloilo.

The Joemar Eradiel – mentored booters blanked Calinog FC, 1-0, to snatch the championship title. Prior to their finals match, the team also eliminated Janiuay, Cabatuan and Camp Peralta.

In order to reach the finals, you have to win all three games. According to Eradiel, they’ve looked at what they did l last tournament and the bad things they did. It wasn’t a great performance but it wasn’t a bad one either considering the squad that they have but what they have is the eagerness of winning the tournament.

Kicking off against Lapaz who were the champions of the recent Hala Bira Cup was not an easy job, but yet they drew against them, especially that it brought a lot of opportunities.

We adjusted the playing tactics that we have and it was then an effective move as we bagged our first win in the tournament against Calinog, but then when we fought against Janiuay we settled a set back losing 1-0 via penalty on a handball inside our penalty box. The next games were tough but we managed to pull it back until we got the title,” Eradiel explained.

The squad, managed by Annabelle De Castro, Randy Labuson and Denmark Solito were comprised of Alexander Dequto, Oliver Lumanog, Semaj Yono-as, John Denver Solacito, Je Francisco Espinosa, Joeren Pahilagao, Renz Inayan, James Patrick Saonoy, Gerald Paul Rodriguez Capatid, Jhone Paul Somogod, Seph Bellezon, Jaz Tachado, Jan Bernard Delariarte, Jed Delariarte and Ariel John Biñas.IMT Sports
