A total of 37 projects funded through the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) were dedicated to the town of Leon, according to the Iloilo Provincial Government.
These projects included water system, electrification, health station, and post-harvest facilities to be implemented in the town’s 14 barangays namely Banagan, Tacuyong Norte, Barangbang, Cararaan, Coyugan Sur, Dorog, Gines, Manampunay, Nalbang, Paga, Marirong, Ayubo, Baje, and Tacuyong Sur.
“We are very thankful to the National Government that they provided every barangay worth P20 million of projects, more programs like these, will surely bring development to the countryside, ” Governor Defensor, Jr. said in a Capitol press release, adding that the barangays should guarantee the sustainability of these projects.

Meanwhile, the post-harvest facilities worth P3 million were initially handed over to the farmer beneficiaries and barangay officials of
Coyugan Sur in a ceremony dubbed as “Padayon.”
This event was attended by local top officials to include Governor Defensor, Second District Board Member Rolito Cajilig, Leon mayor Ma. Lina Holipas, barangay officials along with representatives from the Provincial Planning and Development Office, Provincial Engineer’s Office, and national government agencies like the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) 6, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and Philippine National Police (PNP).JBG/LML/PIA-Iloilo
