Majority of persons under investigation (PUIs) for possible 2019 novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease (2019-nCoV ARD) infection in Western Visayas tested negative for the illness.

Based on the latest data from the Department of Health (DOH-6), there are 23 PUIs in the region.

Of the number, 16 already tested negative for the new coronavirus, according to Dr. Mary Jane Juanico, head of the Infectious Disease Section of the DOH-6.

Test results for the remaining seven cases are still pending.

Juanico said eight are currently confined at the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City.

The 2019-nCoV ARD originated in Wuhan, China.
