Malacañang has no connection with self-confessed hitman Edgar Matobato, who reportedly left the country, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin clarified.
“Wala kaming masabi d’yan dahil we have no connection with Mr. Matobato. Whatever his purpose in going out, we cannot control that,” Bersamin told reporters.
He made the statement in response to reports from The New York Times claiming that Matobato, an alleged member of the Davao Death Squad, left the country with his wife and two stepchildren.
Bersamin further clarified that Malacañang has no control of Matobato if he plans to testify against the drug war of former president Rodrigo Duterte.
“Hindi namin siya ini-encourage, hindi rin dini-discourage,” he said.IMT
