President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. awarded a total of P50 million to the 22 Filipino athletes who represented the country in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Marcos Jr. awarded P20 million and the Presidential Medal of Merit to double Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo who reigned the men’s floor exercise and vault events.

The President extended P2 million each to bronze medalists Aira Cordero Villegas and Nesthy Alcayde Petecio.

He also gave P1 million each to the other Olympians and P500,000 to their coaching teams.

Marcos Jr. thanked the athletes for their hard work and sacrifices, and expressed gratitude to the coaches, trainers, nutritionists, and loved ones who helped shape them into exceptional athletes.

“At alam naman natin na hindi talaga — walang mananalo na atleta na hindi suportado ng katakot-takot na karaming tao na walang iniisip kung papaano kayo tulungan para maging successful. And ito ‘yung ating kinikilala ngayon. At napaka halaga,” according to him.IMT
