President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reducing unemployment and emphasized the role of the private sector in job creation.
“Mas mabigat at mas malakas ang suporta ngayon ng pamahalaan para naman kayo ay mas may kakayanan upang makakuha ng magagandang trabaho,” Marcos Jr. said during the JobStreet Career Con 2025 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Marcos Jr. cited the country’s declining unemployment rate, which fell to 3.2% in November 2024 from 3.6% the previous year.
He also acknowledged business leaders like Tessie Sy-Coson, vice chair of SM Investments Corporation, for their role in successful job fairs.
At the event, the President met with job seekers and visited employer booths organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The fair featured over 150 employers, including SM Retail, Nestlé, and Metrobank, offering more than 5,000 local and international job opportunities.IMT
