President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. joined the Filipino-Chinese community on Wednesday, Jan. 29, to celebrate Chinese New Year, a festival symbolizing hope, renewal, and perseverance.
“As we welcome a new year of self-improvement and good fortune, let this event inspire us to boldly set our intentions and confidently pursue grand ambitions not only for ourselves but for the greater good,” Marcos Jr. said in his message.
Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is China’s most important traditional holiday, celebrated worldwide in communities with Chinese heritage. It marks the start of the lunar calendar, typically falling between January 21 and February 20.
Marcos emphasized that this cherished occasion, rich in tradition and joy, should remind people to view challenges as opportunities for growth and strive toward shared aspirations.
He urged the nation to embrace prosperity with courage and determination in the Year of the Snake, a symbol of wisdom, intuition, and transformation.
“Let the vibrant lanterns that illuminate our celebration also brighten our purpose as a nation,” the President said. “May this auspicious time rekindle our commitment to a Bagong Pilipinas-inspiring new beginnings, forging fruitful endeavors, and deepening our duty to strengthen the ties that bind us as a country,” he added.IMT
