Those who participated in the illegal exit of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo will be held accountable, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Wednesday, Aug. 21.

“The departure of Alice Guo has laid bare the corruption that undermines our justice system and erodes public trust,” Marcos Jr. said in a statement.

“Let me be clear: Heads will roll,” he pointed out.

The President vowed to “expose the culprits who have betrayed the people’s trust and aided” in Guo’s departure.

A full-scale investigation “is already underway, and those responsible will be suspended and will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” according to him.

“There is no room in this government for anyone who places personal interest above serving the Filipino people with honor, integrity and justice,” said Marcos Jr.

On Tuesday, Aug. 20, the Office of the President directed the Department of Justice and the Department of Foreign Affairs to cancel the Philippine passports issued to Guo, her family, and businesswoman Cassandra Ong.

Guo reportedly left the Philippines for Malaysia in July and flew to Singapore and then traveled to Indonesia.IMT
