President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. respects the decision of Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio not to accept another Cabinet post following her resignation as education secretary.

“Okay. I don’t need to react. That’s her decision,” Marcos said in a media interview on July 19.

The President was reacting to Duterte-Carpio’s statement that she would no longer rejoin his cabinet.

On June 19, the Vice President stepped down as Department of Education secretary and vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

She did not cite any reason for her resignation.

Last week, former senator Sonny Angara assumed office as new Education Secretary.IMT
