President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sent his well wishes to former United States president Donald Trump after an assassination attempt during his rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend.
Trump, the Republican candidate for president, was shot in his ear at an election rally in Butler.
“It is with great relief that we receive the news that former President Donald Trump is fine and well after the attempt to assassinate him. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” Marcos Jr. said on his official X account, formerly Twitter.
The President said the Philippines condemns any act of political violence, also emphasizing the supremacy of the voice of the people.
“Together with all democracy loving peoples around the world, we condemn all forms of political violence. The voice of the people must always remain supreme,” he added.
US authorities are now conducting an investigation on the attempted assassination of Trump, who was reportedly shot and grazed in the ear during a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.IMT
