President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged Iloilo local government chief executives to coordinate with the national government on infrastructure projects.

Speaking at the Regional Development Council (RDC) meeting in Iloilo City on Thursday, Feb. 13, Marcos Jr. emphasized the key role of local executives in provincial development. 

“Nobody is more expert in your area than the governor and mayors, and so, we always consider your inputs to be very, very valuable,” the President said.

“Do not be hesitant if there’s something else that you want to bring up, if there is a problem or if you think there is a good idea that we can develop, iparating ninyo sa amin and we will look into it,” he added.

Marcos Jr. received updates on major projects in Western Visayas, including the Boracay Circumferential Road, Jalaur River Multipurpose Project Stage III, Panay-Guimaras-Negros Island Bridge, Panay Railway System, and Boracay Bridge. 

He was also briefed on the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway, Panay East-West Road, Panay River Basin Integrated Development Project, and Iloilo-Capiz-Aklan Expressway.

The Chief Executive stressed the importance of local insights for national initiatives and reaffirmed support for priority projects in Western Visayas.
