Malacañang has reiterated that martial law and term extension are not part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s agenda, following the reorganization of the National Security Council (NSC).
Earlier, Marcos Jr. issued Executive Order No. (EO) 81, which reorganized the NSC.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said in a press briefing that the Marcos administration is focused on driving the country’s economic growth, improving the health and welfare of Filipinos, and completing his legacy projects.
“What he has in mind is the economic prosperity of the country, the health and welfare of the people, especially those who are in the lower classes, and the prioritization of his legacy projects,” according to Bersamin.
“It’s not about martial law. It’s not about extending himself in power. No, he has no thinking about that. He does not even think in those terms.”
Bersamin made the remarks in response to critics questioning the reorganization of the NSC.
The President, he added, has the authority to ensure that those advising him are individuals in whom he has full trust and confidence.IMT
