Prices of meat in Western Visayas are seen to go up as the Christmas and New Year celebrations draw near.

Ma. Theresa Solis, head of the Agribusiness Marketing and Assistance Division (AMAD) of the Department of Agriculture (DA-6), said the heightened demand during the holidays usually drives meat prices higher.

Based on DA’s latest monitoring, the average cost of pork meat in public markets in the region is at P350 per kilo.

The market price of dressed chicken, on the other hand, is at P195 per kilo.

Meanwhile, Solis assured that Western Visayas has sufficient supply of pork, beef, fish and chicken this December.IMT
