Megaworld, the tycoon Andrew Tan-led property developer, vowed to continue helping Iloilo become a more “progressive and vibrant” city.

“I hope that Iloilo will be able to find itself in the global map of most progressive cities in the future,” Harold Brian Geronimo, Megaworld senior vice president and head of public relations and media affairs, said on Monday, Nov. 25.

Megaworld owns Iloilo Business Park (IPB) in Mandurriao district. It is home to world-class hotels, luxury residential condominiums, and state-of-the-art BPO office towers.

The 72-hectare township also houses a lifestyle mall, a contemporary art museum, transportation hubs, the Iloilo Convention Center (ICC) and the Festive Walk Parade, a 1.1- kilometer dining and nightlife strip.

Geronimo said more accomodation and commercial establishments will rise within their township in the coming years.

“IBP is still very young. We’ve only developed 40 percent of the entire township and we have a long way to go,” he said.

“More exciting things to happen in this township. We hope that Iloilo will also continue to patronize our mall, our museum, and our hotels here,” Geronimo further said.

Last August, Megaworld announced its plan to build a new office condominium tower in IBP.

Jennifer Palmares-Fong, vice president for sales and marketing of IBP, said the 19-storey International Corporate Plaza, once completed in 2024, “will be the most modern office tower in Western Visayas.”

Megaworld will also construct a 12-storey Belmont Hotel, the third hotel in its township.

Belmont Hotel Iloilo is targeted to open in 2023.

Megaworld alloted P35 billion for the development of IBP, its biggest single township project.
All in all, the property developer owns 24 townships and lifestyle communities across the country.IMT
