MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power), the sole power distribution utility in Iloilo City, is fully prepared to ensure a stable and reliable power supply for the upcoming Dinagyang Festival, set to take place from January 24 to 26, 2025.
MORE Power has implemented a comprehensive contingency plan to accommodate the expected surge in power demand during the festivities.
“We have a comprehensive contingency plan in place, including preventive maintenance and dedicated response teams, to address any potential power-related issues during the festival,” MORE Power president and CEO Roel Castro said.
Preventive maintenance activities are underway from January 22 to 25, including:
• Tree Trimming: Inspecting and clearing feeder lines to prevent potential outages caused by tree branches.
• Equipment Checks: Monitoring and securing Automatic Circuit Reclosers (ACR) and Load Break Switches (LBS) to ensure proper functioning.
• Feeder Loading Monitoring: Ensuring balanced power distribution across the city to avoid overloading and potential disruptions.
A dedicated workforce, including regular employees and contractors, has been mobilized to support these efforts.
Response teams will be strategically positioned at key festival locations, including:
• Freedom Grandstand
• Capitol
• Food Festival Area
• Delgado-Mabini-Quezon-Ledesma Streets
• SM-San Rafael-Megaworld Area
• Megaworld Substation Control Center
Festival-goers can also visit the MORE Power booth located along Delgado-Valeria Street (near Mercury Drug Store) for assistance and inquiries.
To address any potential power interruptions, response teams will be on standby across all festival zones.
A 24/7 helpline will be operational from January 24 to 26, with officers working in three shifts to provide prompt assistance to customers.
MORE Power’s warehouse will remain operational on January 25 and 26 to provide logistical support.
Line and response teams will work in shifts to ensure continuous coverage, with schedules tailored to cover all critical periods of the festival.
With these comprehensive measures in place, MORE Power is committed to ensuring that the Dinagyang Festival is an uninterrupted celebration for all attendees.
“We want to ensure that everyone can enjoy the Dinagyang celebrations without worrying about power outages.” Castro said.
