If you’re determined to work hard to improve your craft, no pandemic will stop you from achieving it. 

This has been proven by the Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym as they offer Online Training Classes for both Poomsae and Kyorugi jins.

“Its primary goal is to encourage kids to exercise and to be positively active while under ECQ (enhanced community quarantine), as they learn the benefits of Taekwondo Sports Programs like self defense and character building,” shared MVP coach Denmark Pinggol. 

The class makes sure that student-athletes take good care of theirselves especially their skills by providing them daily routines. With this, they could avoid too much exposure to gadgets and having sedentary lifestyle.

Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym Online program started during the first week of ECQ, now the total number of participants is 33 (both Poomsae and Kyorugi).

“It’s very challenging on our part as coaches on how to deliver the program to our students and how to monitor them as we ensure the quality of our training despite that we cannot able to meet them personally,” Pinggol said.

Cyd Edryc Esmaña, one of the jins, said the online class will test their discipline and time management. 

“So far mas na test ang discipline ko and management of my time, because I see to it nga well rested ko if may online training ko the next day. Sometimes may ma encounter ko nga hina wifi ko, daw so far amo man lng na budlay sa online training, also wala ang physical presence sang coach namon,” he shared. 

Cyd’s mother, Cyril, said she always supports her son by ensuring that all his needed materials for the said online class are ready. 

“Good thing that I have a WiFi connection at home, I bought mattings for this training. It helps a lot in this time for him to have an activity at home and still maintaining his flexibility in his forms,” she added. 

For Miagao jin Angela Joy Marie Bermejo, she is happy that their gym provides the online class even there’s a lockdown. 

“Sa online, bali ang mga coaches mahatag simo drills and corrections na virtual lang upod sa mga teammates mo using phone, computer, television and any gadgets na pwede mo gamiton via zoom. Sa personal, ara kana sa gym kag makita mo gid sila face to face kag mas comfortable simo ang space or environment. And easier sa coaches mag correct sa mga sala mo sa drills,” Bermejo said.

According to Pinggol, the online training is quite challenging for them, coaches and to their jins compared to personal training. 

“We have to face several issues such as internet connection, safe training area for the kids and coaches as well. During this crisis this is the best way to deliver our program to our students even they are at home. To make sure that they are safe and in good shape,” he said.

“Also, this is our way to make them more productive and let them avoid too much engagement to gadgets. One of the disadvantages of our online training is we have to modify our program with the kyorugi jins since they cannot do sparring sessions,” Pinggol added.IMT
