Almost 300 individuals riding on their respective vehicles were able to receive their booster shots against COVID-19 on the first day, Jan. 31, of the drive-through vaccination in Iloilo City.

Based on data released by the city government, a total of 274 got their booster shots through the new vaccinaton scheme.

Of the figure, 174 were inoculated in SM Strata and 100 were vaccinated in Megaworld Transport Hub.

The opening of the two drive-through vaccination sites aims to cater to more people who want to get their booster shots against COVID-19.

“In order to serve our constituents better, we have two drive-through vaccination sites for boosters: SM Strata and Megaworld. We hope that more will be encouraged to get boosters from these sites,” said Mayor Jerry P. Treñas.

“I am thankful to the management of both companies for their support to us to boost our vaccination campaign,” he added.

SM Strata drive-through offers Pfizer vaccines for city residents, those working in Iloilo City and vaccinated in the city.

Megaworld drive-through, on the other hand, administers Moderna vaccines, and is open for the public, whether city resident or not.

The city still continues its regular vaccination for first dose, second dose and booster shots in mega sites at SM City Southpoint, Robinsons-Jaro, Megaworld Transport Hub, and district health centers.

A total of 435,510 individuals, including 392,977 adults 18 and above, and 42,533 minors aged 12-17, have so far been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The city administered 122,190 total vaccine booster shots.IMT
