The twin babies who died shortly after they were prematurely delivered tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
They were among the three COVID-19 fatalities recorded by the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) last Saturday, June 12.
The twins, a boy and a girl, were delivered by their coronavirus-infected mother at the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district on June 9, about three months ahead of schedule.
The mother, a resident of Barangay Cuartero in Jaro district, was brought to the hospital after experiencing labor pains.
The deceased twins’ father and five other household members also contracted the deadly disease.IMT
