Classes in Iloilo City are suspended on January 26,27, 29, 2024 due to the celebration of the Dinagyang Festival.
The three-day suspension of face-to-face and online classes was ordered by Mayor Jerry Treñas through an executive order (EO). It covers all levels in both public and private schools in the city.
The implementation of road closures for the Dinagyang Festival is expected to” affect students, motorists, and constituents,” the EO stated.
Dinagyang, one of the biggest festivals in the country, draws hundreds of thousands of local and foreign visitors in its week-long festivities.
According to the EO “employment of measures is [needed] to ensure orderly observance of public protocols to guarantee the peaceful conduct of the cultural and religious expression of the rich devotion of Senor Santo Nino.”IMT
