Education is the greatest gift for young Filipinos, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said during the recent ceremonial signing of the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program Bill in Malacañang.
Marcos Jr. urged everyone to work together to make education the cornerstone of the nation’s progress.
“Through our integrated efforts, we can create a future where no learner is left behind, and every Filipino child can flourish in an increasingly complex world,” according to him.
Meanwhile, the President said the ARAL Program aims to tackle the current challenges in the education sector by focusing on learning interventions
The new law, he added, will help address key challenges such as improving basic skills and recovering from learning loss through structured tutorial sessions and by inspiring students to rediscover their love for learning.
Marcos Jr. cited the 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment, which showed that 75 percent of Filipino learners did not meet the minimum proficiency levels in reading, math, and science.
“By honing their essential learning competencies, we can equip our students with the foundational skills required to become visionaries, critical thinkers, problem solvers—qualities essential to the progress of our nation in this modern world,” the chief executive pointed out.
Key features of the ARAL Program include free and national learning support for students who struggle, especially in reading, math, and science; the employment of teachers, para-teachers, and pre-service teachers as tutors; and the provision of in-person and online tutorials.IMT
