More than 20 thousand couples in Western Visayas got married from January to June last year, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA-6).
Based on data released by PSA-6, a total of 20,021 marriages were registered in the region in the first half of 2023.
This, PSA noted, was higher compared to the number of registered marriages recorded in the same period in 2022.
Negros Occidental logged the most number of registered marriages last year with 9,438.
Iloilo came in second with 6,289 registered marriages, followed by Capiz with 1,735; Aklan, 1,357; and Guimaras, 422.
The figures were based on documents submitted by City and Municipal Registry Office’s in the region.IMT
