More than 100 candidates for Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in Western Visayas are facing complaints for alleged various election violations.
The complaints were filed with the Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) Task Force Anti-Epal or the Task Force Anti-Premature Campaigning.
Lawyer Dennis Ausan, COMELEC-6 director, said show cause orders have already been issued to the complaints’ subjects.
The complaints, according to the election supervisor, ranged from vote-buying to premature campaigning.
Of the complaints, COMELEC-6 has so far recommended the filing of cases against six candidates for the October 30, 2023 BSKE.
“I just cannot disclose the details. Those are cases for disqualification for premature campaigning and even violation of our law on vote buying,” said Ausan.
“We expect that there will be disqualification decisions that will be handed down by the commission before election day,” he added.IMT
