A total 32, 226 voters in the province and city of were removed from the Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) official list.
These deactivated voters, according to the poll body, would not be allowed to vote in the May 2025 national and local elections.
Most of the delisted names failed to participate in two consecutive polls. The last two elections were the 2022 national and local elections and the 2023 barangay and SK elections.
Under Republic Act 8189 or the Voters Registration Act of 1996, the registration of any person “who did not vote in the two (2) successive preceding regular elections” will be deactivated.
COMELEC also deactivated those who lost their Filipino citizenship, failed to validate their records, lost Filipino citizenship, and convicted with finality for a serious offense.IMT
