The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and local government units (LGUs) have so far released P26.11 million worth of food packs and cash assistance to families affected by Typhoon Ursula on Panay Island.
Of the amount, P22.13 million came from the DSWD while P3.97 million were given by LGUs and other agencies.
As of Tuesday, Jan. 7, the DSWD recorded 338,335 families or 1,461,165 individuals affected by the typhoon that battered Panay Island on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2019.
The province of Capiz had the most number of affected families with 134,24 from 15 towns, followed by Aklan, 112,561 from 17 towns; Iloilo, 68,135 from 12 families; and Antique, 18,398 from 4 towns.
According to the DSWD, 932 families or 3,918 individuals remain in 103 evacuation centers in the four provinces.
The number of totally and partially damaged houses stood at 29,576 and 196,692, respectively. “The figures are still subject to validation,” the DSWD said.
Iloilo, Aklan, Capiz, and Antique are currently under a state of calamity due to the effects of the typhoon.IMT
