The Iloilo City Government has allocated P40 million for the celebration of the world-renowned Dinagyang Festival in January next year.
The amount, which is subject for the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s approval, is bigger compared to this year’s budget of P30 million.
It will be released to the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI), the main organizer of Dinagyang, in tranches.
Joyce Ann Clavecillas, IFFI executive director, said the P40-million budget would be used mainly for subsidies and prizes.
Eight school-based tribes will participate in the Dinagyang Tribes Competition, the festival’s highlight, on Jan. 28. Each tribe will receive a cash subsidy.
Last Tuesday, Nov. 14, the city government, IFFI and the parish of San Jose de Placer signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the staging of the Dinagyang Festival 2024.IMT
