The Iloilo City Government’s Local Economic Enterprise office (LEEO) collected P81 million from seven public markets in 2021.

The amount surpassed LEEO’s collection target of P78 million for the year.

The Iloilo Terminal Market, popularly known as “Super,” accounted for P24 million of the total collection and followed by the Jaro Big Market with P5 million.

LEEO also supervises the operations of the Iloilo Central Market, Jaro Small Market, La Paz Market, Mandurriao Market, and the Arevalo Market.

The city’s slaughterhouse collected P22-million, higher by P4 million from its target of p18million.

According to LEEO headed by Maricel Mabaquiao, the “key to sustain the market collections is the consistency and monitoring of products being brought in and inventory of stalls.”

“There’s a market in-charge. Every week we are having our meetings – we monitor the income of every market. So, the delinquencies are monitored,” she said.

“We will maintain our efficiency by continuously monitoring the local economic enterprises and the upcoming developments in the markets. Our priority now is the adjudication of stalls to bonafide stallholders,” Mabaquiao added.

Through its best practices, LEEO is positive that it will sustain its efficient collection and effective services this year.IMT
