Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 3 may be hoisted over Iloilo and other areas in Western Visayas due to Severe Tropical Storm “Odette.”

Charlie Depra of PAGASA-Iloilo said on Tuesday, Dec. 14, Odette’s wind speeds could reach up to 155 kilometer per hour (kph) on Friday, Dec. 17.

The weather disturbance is expected to cause intense rains and strong winds.

Earlier, PAGASA said Odette, which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday night, Dec. 14, will specifically affect the southern part of Iloilo province.

As of 11 p.m., the storm was spotted 890 kilometers east of Mindanao with maximum sustained winds of up to 100 kph and gustiness of up to 125 kph. It is moving west northwest at 15 kph.

Odette is forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of Caraga or Eastern Visayas by Thursday afternoon or evening, Dec. 16.

Afterwards, the storm, according to PAGASA, “will continue moving generally westward and cross several provinces in Central Visayas and Western Visayas before emerging over the Sulu Sea on Friday morning or afternoon.”IMT
