The construction of the Panay-Guimaras bridge is set to start in the second half of 2025, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-6).
The P57-billion Panay-Guimaras bridge, which will span 13.616 kilometers, is the first section of the Panay-Guimaras-Negros (PGN) Bridges Project.
DPWH-6 director Sanny Boy Oropel said the detailed engineering study for the bridge connecting the islands of Panay and Guimaras is expected to be completed in December this year.
This, he added, will be followed by procurement of civil works by the first half of 2025.
According to Oropel, the the Panay-Guimaras bridge is targeted to be done by June 2028.
Meanwhile, there’s no specific date yet as to when the construction of the project’s Guimaras-Negros section will start.
The P109.8 billion Guimaras-Negros bridge will cover 33.086 kilometers.IMT
