The Paraw Lechon Contest this year is open to all roasted pig makers in the province and city of Iloilo with business and sanitary permits.
The contest, scheduled on March 3 at Tatoy’s Beach Front in Arevalo district, is part of the celebration of the Paraw Regatta Festival 2024.
“We’re on the hunt for Iloilo’s best-tasting Lechon, and your shop could be the champion! Lechon businesses from both the city and province of Iloilo are invited to join the search,” City Mayor Jerry Treñas wrote on Facebook.
Those interested to join the contest may contact the Iloilo Festival Foundation’s landline, 336-4243, to register. It will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
The lechons will be judged based on taste (50%), crispiness and juicyness (20%), sanitation and hygiene (10%) and overall appearance (20%).
After the judging, all lechon entries will be consumed by the general public and tourists.
The grand winner will receive a cash prize of P20,000 while the first and second runners-up will be awarded with P16,000 and P12,000, respectively.IMT
