Pavia is the most affected town by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the province of Iloilo, data from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed.
The town recorded 1,794 confirmed cases of COVID-19 from March 2020 to September 18, 2021.
The figure is equivalent to 3.02% of the town’s total population of 59,421.
Guimbal ranked second as the most affected town in the province. It logged 1,072 COVID-19 cases or 2.97% of its population.
Santa Barbara came in third with 2.84 percent of its population have been affected, followed by Oton (2.72%), Leganes (2.21%), Zarraga (2.10%), San Joaquin (2.06%), Passi City (2.01%), Alimodian (1.90%), and Concepcion (1.88%).
In terms of the number of COVID-19 cases, Oton topped the list with 2593, followed by Santa Barbara (1,831), Pavia (1,794), Passi City (1,728), Miagao (1,198), Pototan (1,194), San Joaquin (1,140), Guimbal (1,072), Concepcion (886), and Janiuay (854).
“Although Oton has the most number of cases, having a cumulative total of 2593 cases, yet it is number 4 (most affected town) because 2.72 percent of its population is affected. In the whole province of Iloilo, Oton has the most number of population,” PHO explained
Overall, the province of Iloilo registered 29,624 cases of COVID-19, affecting 1.43 percent of its 2.06 million population.IMT
