The Provincial Development Council (PDC) and Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) are pushing to end the Communist armed conflict in the province of Capiz.
In a joint meeting held at the Governor’s Hall recently, the PDC and PPOC approved a joint resolution entitled “a joint resolution organizing the provincial task force to end the local communist armed conflict (PTF-ELCAC) in the province of Capiz.”
Capiz Governor Esteban “Nonoy” Contreras moved for the approval of the task force and was seconded byJimen Guillermo, PIA manager.
The meeting was also attended by representative of PDEA, Mayors Raymond Malapajo of Maayon, Esteban “Evan” Espinosa Contreras of Pontevedra (father of the governor) and Arnold Perez of Maayon.
The municipal mayors who were not around were represented by their representatives during the meeting.
Provincial Director Canilo Fuentes of the Capiz Police Provincial Office and several police chiefs were also present during the meeting.
Meanwhile, Department of the Interior and Local Government-Capiz Director Ace Azarcon clarified that the task force is only intended to stop armed conflict in the province of Capiz and not to eliminate the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).IMT
